Everyone put their Margherita basil on after the cook?

Some people do and some don’t. I find if you put it on before the basil burns too quickly.

Nice. I love how the Maximus gives a perfect finish on the base and can cook the top in a couple of minutes. They are a great oven.
Have you tried anything else in it ? I did a lovely roast duck in the ceramic pan which came with it and we often use some left over dough to make some focaccia style rolls. I let the oven drop down with just embers glowing and the temp holds well at around 200C with the door closed. The dough sits on a trivet so it doesn't overcook the on the base.

Yes I cooked a chicken with some veggies. It turned out great!

Sometimes I do, but sometimes I put it on before and cover it with mozzarella. It looks nicer if you put it on after though...
If you ever feel like experimenting and have some prosciutto, cook a pizza and add the prosciutto as soon as it comes out of the oven (thin slices have to be put on as soon as the pizza comes out of the oven). It gets this perfect texture to it. Not cooked, but warm and extra yummy.

Were you happy with the bottom crust?

You the man. Great looking pizza.

Yes but I prefer slightly more char.

I am with ya on the char, was just curious if it was just me...What do ya think 45 more seconds?

Maybe.. I was waiting as long as possible but thought the top was ready.

It was!

I am finding the maximus cooks quicker on the top than the bottom.
Maybe I’m not heating up the oven long enough?? -

To me that base looked perfect, but I can understand others preferences.
To put a bit more heat in the bricks, maybe start your fire on the side you'll cook on and move it to the other side after it is well and truly going. Also close the door (with door vents fully open) between pizzas.

I reckon that base is perfect but I did do some pizzas on Max once where I had the fire going and ready for quite a while before the wife had the pizzas made up. The result was that the base did cook a lot more and I had to be careful that they didn't turn black. I like the pizza base to be cooked but soft enough that it folds over if you pick it up, just like your picture.
