Im a bit lazy at times so just used bought bases, they needed to be crispier, but still tasted the goods.

I didnt manage to get the temp up over about 260 ,

Ive tried a few different pellets when I 'burnt' it in all with the same result.

Not sure how others are getting temps over 300c

Biggest difference is chopping the chimney

I got instant 50+ degree boost on the dial and it burns a lot cleaner - less smoke

Beyond that, buy a decent butane torch and use that to light your pellets

Mine goes off the dial within 8 minutes of lighting it & I just keep feeding it with pellets to keep it warm

I throw it in you cook at 280-300° on the front dial - I find it will burn quickly if you cook at a higher temperature

ended up with one of these for fathers day, have given it a couple of tests so far but havnt had great results. Running 100% stock with samba pellets (all my bunnings had) and lighting with a butane torch. Max temp was around the 250 mark but wasnt easy to keep there.

Seems i should be cutting the flange off, and are samba pellets decent enough to get good heat or should i be upgrading those... Qwerty i notice your using wood chips instead of pellets with good results so maybe il give that a go as well.

Jimmybike I just saw this post and don't really use mine much any more, it's just gathering dust. Theres pics of it and the mods I did to it in this thread. You can have it for a pineapple with half a bag of pellets if you want.
