I have no problem with the content on there and the fact that all the info is still up there is great but for me personally I am looking for something more interactive.
Where have all the Aussie BBQ forums gone?

I go back there quite a bit. Was a fun place for so many years.
-
I’m not very a computer illiterate.- not on faceB and only found this site when googling smoking woods and found the “matrix “ Done by some of you I believe .
Glad I did 😀

Got you a good priced Primo

One big thing that did ruin the forum at the time was the reliance of Photo Bucket for 3rd party pic sharing and it left many threads with closed photos.
It put massive holes in forums.
So many threads with pics were left empty.
Many similar forums copped the same fate at the time.

That Photobucket change ruined a lot of sites. A lot of car repair images for instance.

Rare these days posts get 100k views +. At least 2 did there from memory. I think many early on here may have contributed to those. Look back see who did!

Timely we just had Australia day. That sort of activity is Australian BBQ history to me!
Captain Cooks brined chicken recipe was a biggy wasn't it? Think everyone that bbq's must have tried it.
He posted it up here somewhere .....

I've never tried it but I've pinned it to the top of the Airborne section so it's got more exposure here too.
my only question is taking it to 83c ?? Seems high to me.

Looks like the domain registration expired. It has been renewed.

I've got it in the BGE now after it being in the brine for 5 hours this afternoon.,

but they haven't banned the word tofu
it's certainly an issue.

I must say thanks as well to the mods.
I began my journey 2-3 years ago and was an absolute Noob.
Joined the old forum first and was disappointed that I had missed the boat in terms of interaction and real time help in learning.Exactly same story, tho I only started about a year ago. Posted on the other on, waited, waited, waited for advice and then someone from here posted a link to this forum and I was off to the races.
So grateful for the admin's putting this together and keeping it going. Cheers!
And yes, Gumb I do vividly recall when the forum went down due to the data allowance issue a while back. I spent a few very worried nights there wondering how I'd continue on my BBQ journey without the help and advice and camaraderie of the crew here.

Yes indeed Davo. A bit rood the way they did that for long time loyal users.

I remember joining it in 2009, many if not all the ole tymers here were there. I burned out on BBQ many years ago, can't stand the stuff! But you all still put up with me here and that is appreciated!

Yeah, and that backfired on them,.....nobody goes near Photobucket now....do they even still exist?
-
Apparently so but nowhere near the powerhouse it was.
-
Meh who pays for posting photos
-
I still get emails telling me that I'm over my quota on Photobucket and to sign in to change settings....nah, i was lucky enough that when i seen what was going on with this mob, I got into my account and downloaded my entire content from Photobucket to my computer and have never been back since.
Now they have a Photobucket banner right across photos. They killed a lot of forums with their stupid act and they deserve to burn for it.
-
yeah I was around for this, on the plus side many embarrasing cooks from my early days disappeared but the damage done to the archives on those forums was not able to be undone.
Photobucket can eat it!

Ha looks like I queried that in the original thread
