Yep... that's just made me want a flat top more

You all with the hamburgers and the egg, you would do well in the Mid-West here! Will we be seeing any teppanyaki?
They are so fun to cook on and you can do so much. Breakfast is No1, but cheesesteaks and fried rice, and hamburgers and dogs, and well, you know...

Urban Griller how are these plates holding up ?
Thinking of ditching my old 5 burner that I don’t use very often now but I still Want a flat plate for snags, onions and burgers .
These good value? I was looking at the “heatlie” brand - looks like a bloody good Aussie unit but they are a bit $$$ for what I want to spend.

I have never thought to ask. UG, what was the lean to fat ratio in that mince? Looks lean to me. And do your supermarkets have varieties like us? 70/30, 80/20 (Usually Chuck), 90/10 (Usually Round or Sirloin)
-
Just had a look on Amazon and these currently aren't being offered with free delivery for Prime members any more... current price for the folding stand one via Amazon.com.au is $323.39 + $359.97 Delivery... the tabletop one is listed as $215.59 + $212.53 shipping...
Most of the accessories are still available with free shipping, but for some reason the actual grills no longer show up as free delivery, despite being sold by Amazon US...
Not that I can currently get one at the moment (bloody tax bills) but I've been keeping an eye on them as a flat top is something I see appearing in my credit card history in the not too distant future

Our supermarkets don't tell us the % just listed as "Regular" "Lean" or "Premium" and they don't tell us the cut either. Some brands (like Coles) list "Regular" as typically 17% fat.
Here the idiot housewives still believe that fat is the enemy.

Keep doing the search, it will come up as a "Prime" product. I waited 3 weeks for it to come up after the first time I saw it.
At the moment the Marine pedestal 17" version has Free Shipping: https://www.amazon.com.au/Fleming-Sales-…15955693&sr=8-2

Nice one, thanks Urban Griller I'll keep an eye on them when I'm closer to ordering. Will be a while off yet, but as the kids get bigger the stove top isn't going to cut it for burger or okonomiyaki nights, let alone Sunday breakfasts
I've also had a quick look into the NexGrill at BBQs Galore as they seem to be a popular alternative in the states. A quick investigation though appears to throw up some advantages for the Blackstone over the NexGrill... mostly in the suspected better quality of the steel used to make the hotplate, which has been reported to warp by some NexGrill users. But the majority of reviews are pretty positive for both grills from what I've seen. -
I got some mince from Woolies the other day and it had the percentage. The standard stuff was from memory 18% fat, and again from memory the lean more expensive was 12% fat.

The Woolworths lean mince is actually 10% fat. Always stay away from it for burgers.
I don't mind the grass fed mince at Woolworth's and Coles but try to get my mince more often than not at the local butcher now as the price isn't really any different and I can get the amount I need... and what I pay for...
Supermarket mince has an estimated weight, that's what the little e on the packet means... some might be (unlikely) above or (more likely) below the stated 500g or 1kg on the packet. Whereas the butcher, weighs it on the spot and charges me for the actual weight in the bag. -

Just last week I saw it for $405 or so with free delivery. I almost pulled the trigger.

Yeah, the price seems to bounce around a lot. Looking at Camel Camel Camel, it was over $1000 when first listed at the end of 2019 but was as low as $218.01 just last month.
Seems to be one to add to a price alert watch list and keep an eye out for free shipping. -
I would consider 17% lean. 10% for a burger is not going to happen in my World. I have come to like my home ground 65/35!

Hard to beat home made mince mixes... but for some reason I don't do it as much any more.
The love of fat again and the burger boom in Perth is also starting to see more butchers offer "burger mince" which is usually a 70/30 ratio at most places it seems. -
My kind of butcher!
-
Urban Griller , would you recommend one of these ??
