Received a bottle of hickory liquid smoke for xmas. What do I do with it, how do I use it? Is it supposed to be an accompaniment to gasser bbq or an enhancer for fire bbq? Or am I a pretender for considering using it?

I had some, used it on a few chooks I cooked. Added a bit of colour but not much taste from memory. Be good to use as a binder for rubs.
-
I grabbed a bottle when Coles had it as a clearance item, but also not used it. I've seen people add it to the bag when cooking sous vide to add a bit of smoke.
-
I've a bottle of Hickory and a bottle of Mesquite,
I've had them for a long time and seem to only use them in sauces, .baked beans etc.
I added it to scrambled eggs once but didn't think too much of it.

It seems to be a common thing to do, buy the liquid smoke and not use it. I have two bottles and both are in that category.
-
Oh well, into the door of the fridge it goes. Along with all the other random condiments.

Hot Tip:
Add a splash of Liquid Smoke into some good Whole Egg Mayo.
Now make a crispy BLT and dress it with the Mayo
Thank me later!

I feel siracha mayo needs to be mentioned here... 1 part siracha 6 mayo. So simple and so addictive

I am not embarrassed to say I have a bottle in the cupboard, can't remember the last time I used it, but that is beside the point. It is derived from wood smoke, so never understood why folks get miffed if it is used. Beans was a great example!

I've added it to my jerky mixture other than that no idea comes to mind
-
I've used it in jerky & home made sauces. The bottle i have has lasted me around 6 years at this point i think.

never really used, but if I was to use it, I'd say it would be best in things like sauces. Imagine it would be great to help give homemade BBQ sauce that nice smokey flavour.
-
hmm, sauces, gravy or a jus, I'm now trying to picture a hollandaise etc. I'm thinking I may need to have a play here.

I use a splash of Chipotle Hot Sauce to replace the vinegar and tarragon reduction when I make Béarnaise

Some of this stuff can be very overpowering too IMHO.
Have used it a few times, bit would never purchase it.........I just don't like it!

Good in sauces. The stuff I had was very strong so didn't need much to make a BBQ sauce into a smoky BBQ sauce.
