How did you "Win" today?

  • The government is thinking?

Easier than saying "The government is taking money from us, under threat of use of monopoloised violence, and wasting it in a festival of incompetence and profligate waste hitherto unimagined in the span of human existence", I guess...

  • For our WA friends. If you can find Rapid Antigen tests before the border opens I would suggest you get a box of them now before theydisappear like toilet paper.

Already been selling like hotcakes apparently. My brother got some the other day from Costco I think though.

They only became legal to sell here last week.

Too late. What few actually hit the shelves in places like Costco are gone in minutes.

Yeah for sure. I have uploaded pics before but that was from saved photos on my computer. I did this post from my phone so it was a bit different. I saw there were some teething problems with uploading photos from mobile devices so i guess you could call me Gummy.

Used to own: Beefeater 5 Burner BBQ, Weber Baby Q. Currently own: CharGriller Double Play with side fire box as offset, Asmoke AS350

  • Popped into the local BCF to pick up a cast iron camp oven for the wife as it was our 6th wedding anniversary last week and they had the wrong price on the kit I chose. I asked if there was any discount they could do for the mix up and the lovely lady there said "sure, its our stuff up we will honour the tag price"

    Half price, Score!!

Incidentally, she got me a Le Creuset roasting pan which I'm also putting down as a win ;)

  • Believe it or not we have had a little bit of Rain here in Brisvegas.

Something like + 500mm in my area and more on the northern side of Brisbane.

Recently the wife and I have been renovating the house both inside and out but have started on the outside first.

We had a 1400 high concrete sleeper retaining wall built between ours and the next door neighbours just prior to Christmas as the old one was 20+ years old and had rotted out and then decided to redo the front yard as well. We built the block retaining wall to the left and the little one behind the trailer as a garden in front of the big concrete sleeper wall. The fact that we had recently replaced the wall was one win.

At the very end of that work like two weeks ago I thought it best that I put a drain in just to make sure that when we get the large short sub tropical storms it can deal with any run off. Haven't done any soil & turf etc... yet so its a little higher than the current ground level.

What a win given the recent rain event. The drain worked fantastic and once the soil and turf are in it will work even better. as the turf was not in we had some pooling of water probably about an inch. I will probably put some concrete around it so that I can edge the turf etc... as well.

The other win I had was that we are resurfacing / renovating our pool.

This should give you some concept of how much rain we have had in 2.5 - 3 days.

    2.5 - 3 days later.

Pool is pretty much 3/4 full again.

The win was I didn't have to worry about emptying the pool in the rain. My neighbour said he was out there at least 7 times emptying his pool over the weekend.

Sun came out today so the event has pretty much moved to Northern NSW now.

Lismore has now received more rain from this event than any other record the biggest fall they had previously was 1880.

I feel very sorry for the people on Northern NSW. This event was just unrelenting.

  • werewolf some lawn porn for you.

The bottom pic shows the slight difference between the two (excuse the weed in the middle) I.e Sir Walter and Sapphire. From all I read not much different in performance. Leaves are finer / runners thinner and grass is not as coarse and a little softer.

It was slightly cheaper than Sir Walter as well.

So thought give it a go and currently it’s looking great. Yes we have had perfect weather for it. Put some slow release fertiliser to get that dark green colour.

Happy with it as an option. I have always had Sir Walter so thought about Sapphire and said why not.
