After years of use the hinge springs on the Kamado Joe Classic lid have worn out.
Anyone one changed them recently? How much did the springs cost?

I changed some on my Royal years ago and they took a bit of fiddling to get the old set off. I think I ended up using a large screw driver as a lever. Anyway, in answer to your question, I can't tell you what they cost me. I think you'd be able to take one off and head to Bunnings or a spring supply place, they'd be a generic size and not too expensive I reckon.
I am however thinking of replacing the complete set of springs and bands on the BGE and that is expensive but worthwhile I think.
I took the lid off to get the old gasket off when I upgrade it to nomex. Taking and putting back the springs and adjusting the bands was tricky as you said.
That's one reason I'm upgrading the BGE set. They are more readily adjustable and the springs are easy to remove.
Thanks guys for the all the help and advice in the various posts. I finally got it fixed.
kiwiman had a set of springs. Perfect match!!! It was pretty easy taking the springs off. Tricky job getting the new ones on. A bit of a two man job. One person holding the lid while the other put the springs on. I found that the width of the spring is one of the key things to take note of when replacing on the KJ as too wide and the spring hook won't go over the lug (lid side) as it will be pushed past the end.
Looking good with new springs. They made a big different holding the lid up. Really glad I got some springs as paying $300 for a complete hinge was not something I really wanted to have to spend.
Good result and well done kiwiman
I love it when a plan comes together!
Note to self.
Keep old springs from Primo Hinge when replacing it so that other members can use them when needed.
Glad it all worked out.
