G'day everyone.
I was checking out my old Beefeater 900 series gasser the other day and it looks like it needs a bit of loving, superficially at least.
It's served me well for the past 15 odd years and I've replaced numerous parts over that time, but I'm wondering if it's time to replace the old girl with a new one?
It will need 4 burners, 2 grills, at least 1 knob, 2 flame tamers/vaporisers at a minimum, and possibly the ignitor. I haven't checked the condition of the frame yet or the gas rail.
The parts listed are over $200, which isn't a lot on the grand scheme of things, but I'm wondering if it's 'dead money' as it's a big proportion of the initial purchase price?
So in anticipation of a new purchase, I've been doing a bit of searching and have come up with a few early contenders.
A Weber Genesis and Napoleon Rogue (both in 4 burner). Beefeater have a few newer (than my current one) models, which are cheaper but the warranty isn't as good.
The Weber and Napoleon are both at the upper reaches of my budget, but I'm willing to spend good coin (around $2k) for a good unit.
The bbq will mostly be used for standard quick bbq/grill stuff (and when fire bans are in place) as I've got other options for slow/charcoal cooking.
One criteria is that the grill must be able to hold 2 standard pizza stones next to each other, and it must be able to cope with pizza cooking temperatures regularly.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these 2 units, or needed any other suggestions?
Thanks for looking,
Steve.
