It doesn't need to be fancy so maybe a length of steel rod would be better than trying to find a commercial poker. I think most would be for home use and too short for what you need.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Back to the original question you can get flat bar steel in all sorts of sizes.
A very quick search and I found this example at Bunnies. Go in and have a look, you'll be able to hold them and get an idea of what you are after.

EDIT:
Also heaps of options for round bar. Bunnies didn't have much in my very quick search (they may do though), but lots of options in both steel and ali, school kids will often turn 1 inch ali round bar on a lathe.
Find a metal specialist like Stratco etc.

If you end up bending your own, make the handle nice with heat shrink. Bunnings or Jaycar for that.
