Recently decided to do a bit of maintenance on the pellet which included pulling down the latest firmware. Now wish I hadn't. Went from 6s to 7.0 and the pit now is really unreliable. Starts and runs up to temp as normal however after sitting nicely for about an hour it decides "unannounced" to run fan only down to starting temp. No problem with connectivity as when I try and resent the set temp I get a beep and a solid green box on the app. Pulled down V7 twice which is what the GMG mothership advises as their latest to no avail. Looks like I'm going to have to roll back to a version earlier. The question is which. What are other folks using presently without issue? CS

Hi Card Shark , I haven't paired my DB with my new phone yet, but I have some pork ribs in the plans for this weekend, so I'll pair and upgrade and then let you know how it goes.

I don't remember my current version. Haven't done any updates in quite a while so I expect it will be old. I'll note it down on the weekend. Gmg provide excellent service if you do have to replace the motherboard.

Ok, so I have v6.5, but unfortunately no luck with the upgrade.
The phone app has changed a lot since I last used it. The new one seems a lot better, but the WiFi connection bit could be better.
When I tried to upgrade the firmware it made a big deal to tell me that if the signal strength was lower than 70% it may not work well. I stuffed around for over an hour trying to upgrade with the usual 30% or thereabout signal, but it just failed to download every time. I moved the unit and my WiFi repeater, but the most I could get it to was the high 40s (mind you, that should be plenty and I have no issue with my phone on even lower signal strength)
I unscrewed the board to check the back, but all appeared in place and the signal strength was the same.
On one of many tries it started to download, got to 35% and then failed.
Unfortunately it was getting late and I needed to get cooking so I had to give up. I'll try again tomorrow without the food pressure.

Today I managed to update the grill. I placed my wifi repeater outside and it went through first time. Card Shark
