Retired Genesis Repurposed

  • I'm not sure if it's a crap idea, but I'm going to repurpose my old Genesis into an outdoor kitchen work bench and storage cupboard. Pulled all the bbq parts out now and measuring up a hardwood insert to go in there, then hey presto. Taken the thermometer off the hood whick looks like it will fit my kettle lid that needs one and the hoods handle is going to make a nice tea towel holder. Warming rack im still to work out, likely just something inside the cupboard. Holes in the side table I'll just live with/ add "character".

  • Watching with interest. I have one that I've not used for around 5 years due to the bottom warping (so that the grill is no longer long enough in the middle). This could save it from the tip.

Masterbuilt Gravity 800 | Maximus Pizza Oven | GMG - Daniel Boone | Cyprus Grill | Big Steel Keg | Blackstone Griddle | Fire Pit | Weber Genesis |

  • was going to make an elaborate wood top from salvaged jarrah joists, but decided I don't have time or motivation. Fitted a more weather proof form ply top.

now just to make sure divider and some shelves For the cabinet. One side will be for my spare 9kg bottle, other side just for bbq stuff.

  • basic some may say, but compared to my current arrangement I have over 3 times as much bench space and twice as much cabinet storage. I also like that it's not gone to waste. Few holes in the top, but nothing my beer will slip through, so all good from my side.
